Boring Update

So it seems like the big xanga topic is that... noone is updating xanga all cause of Facebook.  Me... yeah, I fell in love in with Facebook, but I really didn't have much to update in general.  I guess some highlights would be...

Mandy's Wedding...  It was so beautiful and it didn't rain outside!!!  First outside wedding I went to that didn't pour cats and dogs.  It was a perfect day.  I'd show pictures, but my photo upload thingie isn't working well.

Buying a new place and settling in.  I didn't take pics of my place cause I havent got myself motivated to clean... so here are some pics of the view from my window and balcony.

I've become a homebody I've noticed and it was pointed out to me.  Getting me out of the house has been fun... thanks Judy!  Here are some highlights of a random night out.

Looking foward to Judy and Jay settling a bet (apparently someone doesn't remember making this bet) for a dinner at Gibson's.  If I didn't suck  so much at the sport of bowling, I'd get in on the bet too.  Sigh...

So where have I been?  I wanna say at work and just home.  It's been so busy at work and with staff being so short all the time, I haven't had a vacation in a while.  I had to spend New Years Eve and the New Years at work.  Boo hoo...  but the holiday pay will be nice.

As always... I will give you some stories from work.  They aren't as funny anymore to me cause I've laughed about it for so long... but here it goes anyways!

One of the patients was asked where he was at.  It's part of our assessments to see if the patient is confused or not.  Well the patient didn't have an answer and was just mumbling... uhm... uhm...
So the nurse walks away for a minute a couple hours after asking the patient the question, when the patient suddenly screams, "HELLO!!!???  HELLLOOO?!?!?!?!?!
So the nurse goes in there and asks what the patiet needs, in which he replied, "I just wanted to tell you where I am."
Nurse: Okay... where are you then?
Patient:  I'm right here!

Another patient called another nurse a "jerk-off" because he apparently didn't assemble the helicopter the right way the patient wanted it.

That's all I could think of.  This was... a boring entry. haha!

Tis the season... for trauma?

I haven't updated in forever... my life isn't all that interesting, but lately...

For one, most of you have heard me gripe about how busy it is at work during the summer season.  I don't know what it is, but something about hot weather makes everyone go out & become violent.  I've spent many shifts with only a 5 min break to inhale a granola bar and my feet feeling like they're on fire.

There's a greeting the staff likes to call the "trauma handshake." We give to all the patients and is basically a 2 second rectal exam.  All it is is a finger up the butt to make sure there's no bleeding.  EVERYONE gets it done.... I mean EVERYONE!  You could have just bonked your head and you'll still get one done.  I couldn't even think of how violating this could be, so the things that people say when it gets done are straight up random and hilarious!  Sometimes I hear a combination of swear words I've never heard before and, its usually guys that think they've had a gay moment... a few highlights:

"Hey!!!  Get your hands away from my ***hole!!... HEY!!!.... What, you guys just came back from the gay pride parade or something?!?!"

"I'M NOT GAY!!!!!! I'M NOT GAY!!!!!!!!! I'M NOT GAY!!!!!!!"

My other favorite moments are when the head injury people say the weirdest things to me like...
PATIENT: Excuse me?
ME: yes?
PATIENT: Is that stuff he gave me... that medicine... is it goin to turn into a... into a... SLINKY?
ME: uhm.... no.
PATIENT: then can I sleep in the chair?
ME: No, that's not safe
PATIENT: well how about the table then?
ME:

I've also had a guy answer every question with a "F*** YOU!"  I was so tempted to write his first and last name as "F***YOU, F***YOU" but I didn't want to get a phone call from my boss the following morning.

Other updates...
I will be moving again in August... this time not to another apartment, but to my very own place.  Yes, finally after all this time time of looking... I found one!  Don't expect any parties for a long time...  I'm goin to be so broke with all this closing crap.  Did you know if you buy a new development in the city, you have to pay city stamp thingie?!?   It's an extra couple thousand dollars!!!!
Which brings me to my next question.  Should I hire a moving company this time around or can I bribe pizza and beer for some strong people to assist?  Anyone interested?  This time... it can't be JUST Danny and my brother.

Summer is already half over... time flies!!! I hope everyone is enjoying it!

Weird

I got tagged... twice!!!!  But I'm only listing 6 things if I could....

THE RULES: Each player of this game starts with the 6 weird things about you. People who get tagged need to write a blog of their own 6 weird things as well as state the rules clearly. In the end, you need to choose 6 people to be tagged and list their names. Don't forget to leave a comment that says you are tagged in their comments and tell them to read your blog.

1.  I still love my stuffed animals and play with them... like I make them animated and give them voices and everything.

2. I will often think of things in my head but only blurb out the end of my thought or just laugh out loud at something that was funny in my head.

3. I don't put salad dressing on my salads.

4.  Putting in a large bore IVs makes me incredibly happy.

5.  I have saved all my reciepts for the past 3 years... mainly because I'm too lazy to invest in a paper shredder.

6.  I punch people when I don't know how to express I like them... just a light punch, and not a knockout.

Night Owl

So... it's been a while since I've updated, and it's probably cause there wasn't too much goin on to update about.  But in the past week... seriously it was on the start of Jan. 1st... I feel like I've had to worst week and a horrible start to the new year.

It all started with a blowout with a coworker of mine... that'll be 3ppl now in the past 2 months or so.  I won't get into the petty details but let's just say it's been awkward goin to work everyday since.

Plus... I was fighting a cold all week which just finally exploded on me on Sunday... I couldn't even finish out my shift at work, and went home within the first hour and half of being there.  Mind you... I had the first admission so I had to finish all the supid paper work and tried to interview a very sedated patient which was very time consuming.    Anyways... came home, slept all evening, woke up at 4am, slept again at 6am till late afternoon, took another short nap in the evening... and that is why I am up at3:30am baking cookies, totally wired, and bored out of my mind.  I can say now that my cold of flu or whatever it was... it's just about all out of my system.

And to top it off... the worst part of the week was that I lost my brand new ipod at the gym.  I thought I packed it in my bag, but when I came home I couldn't find it.  The last place I remember using it was the gym, and in the time it took me to figure it out, someone stole it.  I kept calling to see if someone had turned it into the lost and found, but they didn't have any matching my ipod description.  The scary thing is... the lady said there were TONS of ipods in their lost and found safe.  How sad is that?  I had the video ipod and I guess that's why it's not turned in.  I'm sure the person who stole it is very happy now... and thinking what an idiot this Sue person is.

But the highlights of the holidays were:

  • RCC Christmas party... I'm just sad our gingerbread house/pig didn't win the contest...
  • New Years at Cherry Red minus the last 1.5hrs of the night trying to catch a cab in the freezing cold and trying to catch a dear friend of mine... his name will remain annoymous... sorry I sat on you my friend... it was all out of love!
  • Seeing the Cornerstone ppl and of course... my favorite British Flare... Kerry

The late night hours brought out the craziness in us.  And to all the ppl that did not get invited... I didn't do it on purpose cause I made this so last minute and I didn't have everyone's updated info.  I was hopin that the word would spread like a wild fire and you guys would all come, and a lot of you guys did.. but there were a lot missing. Anyways... please contact me so I could invite you guys to the next get-together.

Looking foward to a better start this week... sigh

Steve... it's such a pretty name

So my old roomie Mandy stayed over for a few days this past weekend/half week, to kick back and be goofy with her partner in crime... me   It was just what I needed...  so thank you to Mandy (who again, never reads this) for showing me how fun life is again!

Then back home to baking the best brownies I've ever made... mostly fudge it seemed, but nevertheless... awesome brownies.  Too bad we didn't take any pictures of the final product.  All I have to say is... the ingredients called for 2 pounds of premium quality chocolate...

Then we made Steve... a little bit of work.. he was a bit of a tough pumpkin and very dirty, so we gave him a bath then carved him, but we have to say... he turned out to be a masterpiece!

I'm still laughing from all the goofy, quirky moments of the weekend... which made up for the annoying classes I had to take at work.  But the week is finally over, and I don't have to study for any stupid test.... but I'm still at war with the bugs in my apt.  EEEKK!!!
